Arsenal are said to be ready to offer £43m to secure the signing of Barcelona striker Ansu Fati this summer.
Fati, 20, has established himself as one of La Liga's top talents over the past four seasons. Since his debut in 2019, he has helped his boyhood side win three titles, including a La Liga championship and a Copa del Rey crown.
A right-footed winger with speed, flair and a sense of humour, the seven-team Spain international has become a hot topic of recent transfer rumors. He could be on his way out after falling for order at his club last season. According to El Nacional, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has informed the club's senior management to prioritize signing Fati this summer. He is keen to add players to his ranks as he believes his arrival can strengthen his front line.
The Gunners, who have arrived in the UEFA Champions League after a seven-season hiatus, met with Fati's agent Jorge Mendes. They are willing to reduce the price of 43 million pounds for this striker.
However, Barcelona president Joan Laporta would not be willing to accept such a superficial offer from a Premier League side. He wants to start negotiations for the star for £69m and lock them in at around £56m.
Fati, who has a contract until June 2027 at Camp Nou, could prove to be a great signing for Arsenal if a decision is made in the future. He can provide reliable competition for Gabriel Martinelli and occasionally plays as a striker.
So far, Fati has scored 29 goals and 10 assists in 109 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona. He has only started 41 games due to a number of injury problems and averages one goal every 112 minutes. Arsenal and Barcelona goals shed light on future after UCL win
Speaking after the team's recent win in the UEFA Champions League, Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan was asked to shed some light on his immediate future amid growing interest from Arsenal and Barcelona. He told reporters:
"I have yet to make a final decision on my future."
Gundogan, 32, is expected to leave Pep Guardiola's side when his current contract ends this month.
According to SPORT, the former Borussia Dortmund star is ready to turn down a move to Arsenal after important talks with Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez. He is said to have offered a three-year contract with the Catalan side.
