Bayern Munich have pulled out of the race to sign West Ham captain Declan Rice.
The German champions have identified the England international as their number one summer target, with Thomas Tuchel looking to strengthen his midfield.
Former Chelsea manager Tuchel is said to have spoken to Rice in an attempt to convince him to leave the Premier League.
Rice would have been impressed with Tuchel's performance, but Bayern seem to have left the argument.
According to Bild, after Tuesday's board meeting, the club's hierarchy chose not to care about Rice and look for alternative targets. Bayern's decision now clears the way for Arsenal to sign the player Mikel Arteta is desperate to sign with virtually no objection.
The Gunners are ready for Granit Xhaka, while there are doubts over the long-term futures of Thomas Partey and Jorginho.
Arsenal laid the groundwork to sign Rice earlier this year and are now close to completing a 100m deal from Hammer.

The Irons are reluctant to let the 24-year-old go, with chairman David Sullivan revealing last week that the club will not stand in Rice's way.
