England captain Harry Kane isn't afraid to make a change to help his Tottenham career... but Manchester United's transfer target could be moving this summer

According to new statistics, only 7 players have run further than Harry Kane in the last Premier League season.

The 29-year-old striker has spent another excellent season for Tottenham. Kane has scored 30 Premier League goals - just behind Erling Haaland's record of 36 for champions Manchester City - and has become the club's and England's top scorer.

Kane is out of contract in a year, with the likes of Manchester United interested in signing him. It's easy to see why the England captain is so sought after by looking at the 10 players who have run the longest distances in the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.

Topping the list is Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse, who completed the 433.4km run. Like Kane, the 28-year-old midfielder could also leave after the Saints are relegated to the Championship. Ward-Prourage is probably too good for this level.

The data is compiled by talkSPORT, with Kane running 394.8km in the Premier League this season. Second on the list is impressive Brighton star Pascal Gross (418.9km), who is capable of playing as a midfielder, winger or full-back.

In third place is Declan Rice (412.9 km). West Ham have confirmed their captain will be allowed to leave this summer, with a £100m move to Arsenal under consideration. Mikel Arteta will need Rice's energy when Granit Xhaka arrives at Bayer Leverkusen.

The underrated Alex Iwobi has played all 38 Premier League games for Everton this season and kept them alive. He covered an impressive 405.8 km. Everton survived Leicester, with Foxes defender Timothy Castagne running 404.4km.

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag was furious with the work rate of his players following a modest 4-0 defeat to Brentford in August. His vice-captain Bruno Fernandes responded with distance. 402.5 km, more than Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard (396.4 km). The last two players to make the top 10 are Bournemouth midfielder Jefferson Lerma (387.2km) and Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier (376.7km). Not a single Man City player makes the list, perhaps because Pep Guardiola's team often holds the ball.

Kane's exemplary attitude is no secret. Speaking in April 2022, former Tottenham manager Antonio Conte said:

"We're talking about a talented player. Usually players with great talent don't want to work hard... He was an example from the first day I came here.

"You might think it's normal, but it's not. He's a great example to his teammates and you see his desire to play."

Tottenham decided to keep Kane, despite his refusal to sign a new contract. Spurs chief Daniel Levy is said to be unwilling to sell to a Premier League rival but would risk losing Kane on a free transfer if he refuses to sell him this summer.
