Following his departure from Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year, Antonio Conte stated that he would entertain offers from "Italy or abroad."
The Italian left Tottenham at the end of March after a run of poor performances and a fiery news conference following a miserable 3-3 draw with Southampton, during which he yelled at his players and implied that the club's ownership lacked desire.
Although the announcement made public at the time of his departure said that Conte had resigned by "mutual agreement," this week, the former Spurs manager claimed that it was his decision to leave the organization, saying:
"The most recent encounter, like all of them actually, had some good aspects and some bad. The experience was great; we gave our all and accomplished everything we could.
"We made it into the Champions League even though the team was eighth or ninth when I came. Then, with the team now in fourth place, I made the decision that we should break ways with Tottenham. Some have made the decision to accept less.
Since leaving Tottenham, who just hired Ange Postecoglou in his place, Conte has been strongly connected with a number of roles around Europe, including a transfer to Ligue 1 winners Paris Saint-Germain or a return to Juventus.
When asked about his plans for the future, Conte said that he was open to coaching again: "I still have the desire to coach, that passion never fades. If it happened, I would have to examine my own character and decide that it was no longer moral for me to work in this industry.
Having said that, I should also add that I am not sporadically looking for a new job. I would take into consideration a situation, whether it was in Italy or overseas, if something significant and serious presented itself and motivated me.
