Marcus Rashford responded to criticism of his decision to leave England's March international commitment.
The Manchester United forward received harsh criticism for choosing to visit the US after declining to represent England in March. After the forward traveled to New York while injured, Gareth Southgate was quick to defend him, saying: "Once he is ruled out of the squad, it's entirely up to him how he spends his time."
Rashford defended the trip himself at a press conference before this week's games against Malta and North Macedonia, insisting that he is "100% committed" to the Three Lions.
It's impossible to anticipate when an injury will occur. You can sustain impact injuries occasionally. I am absolutely dedicated to it [England] and I know it. What people say will be what they will say. I'm not very bothered about it.
Rashford was a strong performer for England at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, scoring three goals in the tournament as the Three Lions advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to eventual champions France.
At the club level, the forward carried on in that vein for the remainder of the 2022–23 season, hitting 30 goals for Man Utd.
Jude Bellingham is only 19 years old, which is also something that is simple to overlook. The English teenager has made close to 100 Bundesliga appearances during his time at Signal Iduna Park, and his time there appears to be coming to an end after Dortmund announced they had reached an agreement with Real Madrid for a fee of €103 million (£88.5 million), with the possibility of an increase to €133.9 million (£115 million). Bellingham is one of the most talented midfielders on the continent.
Bellingham, who was born and raised in Stourbridge, a market town in the West Midlands, joined his childhood team Birmingham City at the age of seven and rose through the ranks at an unheard-of rate, eventually playing for the club's U23s at the age of 15.
