With just one year until the opening match of Euro 2024 in Munich, the countdown has officially begun.
England, who are currently in first place in qualifying Group C, will play Malta on June 16 at 7:45 p.m. and North Macedonia on June 19 at 7:45 p.m. in an effort to advance to the tournament in Germany next summer and improve upon their second-place finish at Euro 2020.
Who would Gareth Southgate choose if his team's opening game at the tournament was right around the corner? Players still have plenty of time to argue their claims throughout the course of the following year.
Would Aaron Ramsdale receive the opportunity to play goal? Would Trent-Alexander-Arnold make a comeback to the starting lineup? Would he stand up for you?
Trent Alexander-Arnold was tested by Gareth Southgate in midfield before Jurgen Klopp switched him to a hybrid position at the end of the previous campaign. Now it's time for England to fully release him.
Beyond Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham, England's midfield options are limited, which makes room for Alexander-Arnold to occupy the third position in a 4-3-3.
If no good candidate emerges for the left center-back position, Harry Maguire will remain in that position, and Marcus Rashford will start on the left side of the front three.
Pickford, Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw, Rice, Alexander-Arnold, Bellingham, Saka, Kane, and Rashford make up Dave Richardson's England XI for Euro 2024.
