Rodgers left Leicester in April.

After going above and above to lure their previous manager back as Ange Postecoglou's replacement, Celtic now appear close to gaining Brendan Rodgers' services for a second time.

Since the Australian's agreement to join Tottenham was finalized last Tuesday, the Hoops have been looking for a new manager.

The Celtic board has zeroed in on Rodgers after previously being linked to Manchester City assistant Enzo Maresca, Bodo/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen, and West Ham manager David Moyes, among others. They met with Rodgers last weekend in Majorca to start talks.

The Northern Irishman left Celtic almost four and a half years ago to take over at Leicester, but he now seems set to return to the team where he won all seven domestic trophies that were up for grabs while laying the groundwork for an incredible quadruple-treble that was completed by his successor Neil Lennon.

In spite of reports that negotiations are firmly at the "advanced" level, Rodgers—who has also been connected with the Leeds vacancy—was only just backable with bookies on Wednesday to become the new Celtic manager, available at just 1/14 with Sky Bet at 6pm.

The 50-year-old has reportedly been offered a salary that exceeds what he made during his previous tenure at Celtic as the Scottish champions—who just won their most recent domestic treble—seek to build on Postecoglou's outstanding work of the previous two years.

Rodgers, who took over as Celtic's manager for the first time in the summer of 2016, left the organization in February 2019 amid rumors that he wasn't happy with how the team was being operated.

He allegedly asked for reassurances in recent conversations that he will be supported in terms of hiring to make sure the club is well outfitted for their next match against the Champions League group stages.

Under Postecoglou, the Hoops managed just two points from their six games in the competition, while under Rodgers' group-stage qualification management in 2016 and 2017, they only managed three points in each of the two campaigns.
