The 28-year-old was hired in 2017, but since the conclusion of his debut season, he hasn't appeared on the field for the team.

Tiemoue Bakayoko, a midfielder for Chelsea, has been released after his contract expired, the team has announced.

The 28-year-old had not played for the club since the conclusion of his first season despite being signed by former manager Antonio Conte shortly after the team's most recent Premier League championship in 2017.

Since then, he has played on loan for AC Milan, with whom he won the Serie A championship in 2022, Napoli, and his old team Monaco.

He joined Chelsea in a £40 million transfer after helping Monaco win the unexpected Ligue 1 championship as a member of the squad that also included Kylian Mbappe and Bernardo Silva.

The team led by Leonardo Jardin eliminated Manchester City in the Champions League's round of 16 before falling to Juventus in the semi-final.

But the midfielder, who only had one cap for France in 2017, fell short of the hopes placed in him.

His most famous performance in blue was in the 2018 FA Cup final, where he played the entire 90 minutes as Antonio Conte's team defeated Manchester United 1-0 to win the title.

According to a list made public by the Premier League, 12 more players who graduated from Chelsea's academy have also departed the team. This list includes goalkeeper Nathan Baxter, who played 12 times in the Championship while on loan at Hull last season.

Tiemoue Bakayoko, a midfielder who joined Chelsea in 2017 and spent five years on loan, has left the club. His contract was set to end in 2024.

Twelve months before his contract was set to expire, Tiemoue Bakayoko formally left Chelsea.

Bakayoko was the second-biggest acquisition in club history when he was signed for £40 million from Monaco in 2017, but he would only play for the first team for one season before spending the following five years on loan.
