Sadio Mane's departure from Liverpool last summer to join Bayern Munich did not yield the desired results, leading to speculation about his potential return to the Premier League.

Following a promising start with Bayern, Mane suffered a significant injury in November, which sidelined him for over three months and caused him to miss the World Cup with Senegal. His return to action was marred by a lack of form, as he managed to score only once in his final 15 appearances of the season. Moreover, Mane found himself in trouble when he was suspended and fined for allegedly punching his teammate, Leroy Sane, following Bayern's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League.

These setbacks contributed to an underwhelming debut campaign for Mane, who was tasked with replacing the prolific Robert Lewandowski at Bayern. Throughout the season, Mane scored a mere seven goals in the Bundesliga, falling short of the high expectations set for him. Bayern's struggle to secure the league title until the final day was seen as a disappointment, prompting the club to plan a summer shake-up that includes potential departures, with Serge Gnabry also being linked with a move away.

Earlier this month, a report from German outlet Bild suggested that Mane could make a dream return to Liverpool, with Bayern potentially open to a cut-price fee for the 31-year-old, despite having paid £35 million for his services just a year prior. While the idea of re-signing Mane might excite some Reds supporters, it is unlikely that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp shares the same sentiment. Klopp has already brought in new signings Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo as replacements for the departed Mane.

Mane's impressive performances, finishing second to Karim Benzema in the 2022 Ballon d'Or rankings, have also attracted interest from other Premier League clubs such as Newcastle United and Chelsea. There have even been reports suggesting that Mane has the opportunity to join Benzema in Saudi Arabia. Adding to the intrigue, former British MEP Martin Callanan, who hails from Newcastle and is now a life peer in the House of Lords, recently encountered Mane at an EITI International conference in Senegal. Callanan couldn't resist expressing his desire for Mane to join his boyhood club, Newcastle United, to which Mane enigmatically replied, "Never say never."

In summary, Sadio Mane's move to Bayern Munich has not panned out as expected, with a combination of injuries, poor form, and off-field incidents dampening his debut season with the German club. As rumors circulate about a potential return to the Premier League, various clubs, including Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Chelsea, have been linked with the Senegalese forward. However, it remains to be seen whether Mane will indeed make a transfer in the upcoming summer window, as both Bayern and his future suitors weigh their options.
