The transfer saga itself has come to light in a special way and while Arsenal's pursuit of Declan Rice has long been one of football's worst-kept secrets, their interest in Kai Havertz has shocked many.
The Gunners who led the Premier League for 248 days - a club record that eventually failed to win the title - were rejected by West Ham. Meanwhile, they are looking to step up their attack as the only forwards currently at the club are Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah. That's why Havertz is on their radar. The German wants to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and Chelsea are open to offers. However, there is competition for his signing as Bayern Munich have been linked and Real Madrid needs a replacement for Karim Benzema.
Both players are in high demand but Mikel Arteta will be looking to replenish and improve his squad if the club can persuade both players to move to north London - and their employers will allow it. It would be risky and perhaps unwise for Arteta to completely change the way Arsenal play. That's why, if Havertz and Reis sign this summer, they will most likely switch to the current 4-2-3-1 system that made Arsenal so threatening to the future last season.
Midfielders: Rice (CM), Partey (CM), Odegaard (CAM)

The Ghanaian had an excellent season but occasionally got out of position. But Arsenal will be able to perfectly mend the gap in their armor when they sign Rice, who just won a European trophy for West Ham and was the starting line-up in the Euro 2021 final.
With Rice and Partey providing energy and persistence in midfield, another Martin Odegaard striker could get the chance to establish himself as Arsenal's one true playmaker. Rice and Partey's midfield base will allow Odegaard to focus primarily on the attacking side of his game.
Forwards: Martinelli (LW), Havertz (ST), Saka (RW)
There is no significant evidence that Havertz has scored more goals for Arsenal than Gabriel Jesus since joining the Gunners from Manchester City.
But Havertz is a taller man, a taller aerial danger, and a nimble forward who has completed more runs behind the defense than any other Premier League forward this season. He can team up with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka for potentially devastating effects. Havertz is by no means the most clinical striker. There are so few attackers of this caliber; No wonder Harry Kane has a triple-digit rating on his head. Havertz can't promise to score regularly, but he could become Arsenal's main striking force in attack - not to mention a smart player working in a squad full of smart players.
