The current England Under-21 team, according to Jacob Ramsey, is more prepared than some of the previous stars to win the European Championship.

For Euro 2023, Lee Carsley's team is in Georgia and will face the Czech Republic on Thursday.

Over the years, many players who later went on to play for England at the highest level came via the junior system, but they were unable to deliver on the largest stage, with five of the last six European Championships ending in group-stage elimination.

Ramsey, whose team, Aston Villa, enjoyed a successful Premier League season, claims that Carsley's club has a distinct mentality.

When we've looked at prior groups and camps, there's certainly a different mentality, I'll say one thing about this bunch," he remarked.

"I believe that before to this, people had us listed as heavy favorites and believed that we had gone there to win it. However, this group does have a modest side. Everyone is certainly aware of how well we can play together, and we are probably one of the favorites. However, we shall enter this competition with respect for every team. I believe we have the appropriate balance in our group, and I hope we will demonstrate that when we are in public.

The fact that Carsley was able to choose a team with a wealth of Premier League experience—including Ramsey, Morgan Gibbs-White, Emile Smith Rowe, Anthony Gordon, Oliver Skipp, and Harvey Elliott—helps.

Ramsey continued, "It is a big thing for the 21s going into a major tournament, obviously."

"However, I believe that if you look at the clubs that the guys are playing for — Liverpool, Man City, even the lower end of the table with Forest and stuff — they are playing for a bigger prize than this competition."However, I believe that almost everyone on this team has Premier League experience, and playing in the Premier League in front of 60,000 people at Old Trafford is by far the most stressful situation.
