Before the 2023–24 season, Sky Sports announced that Martin Tyler had left his position as their primary football commentator. Prior to the Premier League's founding in 1990, Tyler joined Sky, and his voice has come to be associated with some of English football's most memorable moments.

Before the 2023–24 season, Martin Tyler will step down from his position as Sky Sports' primary football pundit.

The 77-year-old has made the decision to end his illustrious career at Sky after being hired in 1990, just before the Premier League was established. He had once worked for ITV.

One of the most recognizable voices in the history of sports broadcasting, Tyler provided commentary on a number of monumental events during the Premier League era.

In a statement, Tyler said: "In my humble opinion, Sky Sports' creative and inspirational coverage of the Premier League has contributed to the enormous corporation Sky is today. It has been an honor to contribute in any tiny way to the history of the best league in the world's broadcasting.

"I have collaborated with countless amazing experts in the television industry along the way. They are all acknowledged for their assistance and knowledge. It has been an honor to work with such a talented group of people.

Gary Hughes, director of football for Sky Sports, continued, "Everyone at Sky Sports would like to extend a sincere appreciation to Martin for his unmatched contribution and dedication to our coverage over the previous 30 years. The Premier League and Sky Sports will forever be associated with "The Voice." Martin Tyler comes to mind when you think of commentary. The phrases "Collymore closing in" and "Aguerrrrroooooooooo" rank among the best in Premier League history. We appreciate him and wish him nothing but the best in the future.

Tyler was sick towards the close of the 2022–2023 season, making it impossible for Sky Sports to acknowledge his career on-air.
