After helping Barcelona win La Liga, Ousmane Dembele has once again won over the support of the supporters. Although Xavi frequently refers to him as the best winger in the world, the Frenchman has shifted the attention to a Real Madrid foe.
Ousmane Dembele, a striker for Barcelona, has downplayed claims that he is the best winger in the world, redirecting accolades to Vinicius Junior, a teammate from Real Madrid.
Since Xavi took over as La Blaugrana's head coach in November 2021, Dembele has recaptured his finest form.
When his contract with Barça expired last summer, it was anticipated that he would depart the club, but he changed his mind and agreed to a new deal with them.
During the 2022–23 season, Dembele's performances enabled Barcelona to claim its first La Liga championship in four years.
Xavi praised Dembele as the best winger in the world as a result of his success. The France international was questioned about his manager's remarks during an interview with MARCA.
Dembele laughed it off and said, "I don't know, I don't know...it's the coach," before admitting he admired Milan star Rafael Leao and opponent Vinicius.
"I'm always here to score goals and provide assists for the club, but I can't say that I'm the best one-on-one player because there are other very good players in that area, like Vinicius or Leao, who are excellent footballers.
"I greatly appreciate the coach's support. If the coach and the team have faith in each player, they may all develop and feel at ease.
Dembele continued by thanking Xavi for bringing the team together in the locker room, which eventually contributed to a successful title challenge.
"Winning titles requires it. The team will suffer if there are numerous issues in the locker room, which is undesirable. Barcelona is now a large family, including both veterans and numerous children. The team has a great vibe, he continued.
