The seven youngsters set for Barcelona's preseason tour of the USA

Following their elimination from the promotion playoffs to the Second Division, the Barcelona Atletic players have entered their holiday period. However, uncertainty still looms over their futures as decisions are yet to be made regarding the squad composition for the upcoming season. Rafa Marquez, the Mexican coach of the team, recently extended his contract until June 30, 2024. Together with the sporting management, Marquez now faces the task of assembling a competitive squad for the upcoming season and determining the players who will join the first team on their tour of the United States from July 19 to August 2.

Three players have already been confirmed for the tour: Lamine Yamal, Marc Casadó, and Aleix Garrido. All three youngsters have previously made their debuts in the first team under the guidance of Xavi Hernandez and have earned the admiration of their coach. Lamine Yamal, who is currently under 16, will turn sixteen on July 13, coinciding with his eligibility to sign his first professional contract. Negotiated by Jorge Mendes with Barça, the details of this contract are expected to be finalized soon.

In addition to these three players, three more candidates could potentially join them on the tour: Arnau Tenas, Chadi Riad, and Estanis Pedrola. Their involvement hinges on individual circumstances, as all three players appear to have reached the end of a cycle in the reserve team. It is possible that by the start of the first team's tour, one of them may have already departed the club on loan. Arnau Tenas, the goalkeeper, has a contract expiring on June 30.

Although Barça holds the option to extend his contract for two more seasons, no decision has been announced regarding the execution of this clause.

Another promising player, 18-year-old Senegalese center-back Mikail Faye, has recently been acquired by Barça for their reserve team. The Catalan club secured his services from Croatian side NK Kustosija for a fee of €1.5 million. Faye is expected to train under the guidance of Xavi during a significant portion of the pre-season, showcasing his talents and aiming to impress the coaching staff.

The upcoming weeks will prove crucial for Barcelona Atletic as they finalize their squad for the new season. With decisions yet to be made on player contracts, potential loan moves, and the integration of young talents, the team aims to build a competitive roster that can contend for promotion. Under the guidance of coach Rafa Marquez and with the support of the sporting management, the club remains focused on preparing for the challenges that lie ahead.
