Dejan Kulusevski, who spent 18 months on loan with Juventus, has now signed a permanent deal with Tottenham; the club denied their option to purchase him, but they were able to work out a discount.
Tottenham has finalized the permanent acquisition of Juventus' winger Dejan Kulusevski.
The Swedish international signed a loan agreement with Spurs in January 2022 that contained a contingency allowing the club to purchase the player permanently for almost £30 million, but Spurs chose to negotiate a lower price.
Kulusevski has already returned to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after the two teams reached an agreement on a cost that was closer to £25 million, as 90min reported on Friday.
Kulusevski has signed a five-year deal, making him the first player hired under Ange Postecoglou.
Kulusevski's 18 months on loan in London were difficult. In 57 games in all competitions, he accrued seven goals and 16 assists, and when he was on, he frequently resembled one of Spurs' top prospects.
Spurs fans were thrilled with their deal when the 23-year-old had a scorching start to life in England, scoring five goals and dishing out eight assists in his first six months with the team. However, the 23-year-old's statistics suffered from inconsistent play over the course of the following year.
A mandatory buy provision was also a part of Kulusevski's loan agreement; however, the Swede was unable to prevent his team from finishing eighth. The clause would have been activated had Spurs been in the top four this season.
He is now prepared for a new beginning under Postecoglou, who, according to 90min, is open to working with Kulusevski.
