Ruben Neves might have unintentionally aided Mauricio Pochettino's summer aspirations at Stamford Bridge, according to Chelsea transfer news.
Mauricio Pochettino's prospects of resolving two significant issues with Chelsea this summer have been surprisingly increased by Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves. With only one year left on his contract, the Portugal international's departure from Molineux seems inevitable. His name has been frequently linked to moves away from Molineux in recent transfer windows.
The 26-year-old has been strongly linked to Manchester United and Arsenal, but is instead close to joining Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal. The Athletic claims that Wolves will earn £47 million for their captain, with talks presently underway over personal terms.
Neves' move might have aided Pochettino's squad-clearing plans for the summer, despite Chelsea's apparent lack of interest in him. This is due to the rumours linking Edouard Mendy, Hakim Ziyech, and Kalidou Koulibaly to moves to Saudi Arabia, with a high possibility that at least one of them will join N'Golo Kante there. Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and a few other players are on the verge of securing departures from west London. While Mount and Loftus-Cheek appear to be in good positions to join Manchester United and AC Milan, respectively, the Croatian midfielder appears ready to sign with Manchester City.
Selling players swiftly is therefore essential, and since Saudi Arabian teams aren't shy about providing rich transfer fees, as Neves' exit demonstrates, arranging only one of Mendy, Koulibaly, or Ziyech's departures might be quite beneficial.
There isn't a clear price listed for the trio, but Mendy and Ziyech are both willing to leave after turbulent stints at Stamford Bridge. Koulibaly, who joined Chelsea only last summer, wants to compete for a starting spot and has already rejected a loan to Inter in Serie A that was suggested during a meeting concerning Romelu Lukaku and Andre Onana.
