A tragic incident took place in Trom, a suburb of Koforidua in the Eastern region. According to reports, a jilted lover has been allegedly involved in the unfortunate killing of his girlfriend. The incident occurred on Saturday, June 17, 2023, specifically at Junction 5 in the Trom community.

There are allegations suggesting that the victim had been in the process of ending her relationship with the suspect, which led her to relocate to the current location. The circumstances surrounding the breakup and subsequent events are currently under investigation. It is a deeply distressing situation.

According to eyewitness accounts from some co-tenants present in the house during the incident, it has been reported that the suspect visited his girlfriend at a time when a naming ceremony was taking place in the house. The deceased girlfriend believed to be 23 years old, went outside to meet the suspect and subsequently brought him into her room.

Tragically, it seems that the suspect committed the heinous act amid the noise and commotion of the ongoing naming ceremony. As a result, no one in the vicinity heard the victim's distress or her calls for help.

Allegedly, a struggle ensued between the suspect and the victim, during which he forcibly placed a piece of cloth in her mouth before ultimately slitting her throat. These details paint a distressing and heartbreaking picture of the events that transpired. The authorities are actively investigating the matter to gather all the necessary evidence and shed light on this horrific incident.

It has been reported that after committing the gruesome act, the suspect disposed of the knife used in the crime. He allegedly discarded the weapon by throwing it into a nearby bush located at the back of the house. Taking advantage of the chaotic situation, he managed to sneak out unnoticed.

The suspect who is in his 30s reported himself to the police later in the evening while wearing a red shirt with the inscription “Rest In Peace ” at the back.

The body was retrieved from the cold blood by police after taking inventories of the crime scene and depositing the body at the morgue.

Police brought the suspect to the crime scene Sunday afternoon around 12:noon to search for the knife used to commit the act but were not successful.

Some angry youth in the community thronged the scene and threatened to attack the suspect.

As tension rose, police whisk the suspect into a taxi and left the scene.
