Marcus Rashford has improved his goal-scoring during the past season with Manchester United, according to Gareth Southgate.
With Man Utd, Rashford had a career-best 2022–23 season, scoring 30 goals across all competitions for the first time in Red Devils history. The 25-year-old scored goals that helped him win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award and earn a spot on the season-long Europa League roster.
Rashford's newly discovered ruthlessness was highlighted by England boss Southgate when discussing the changes he's noticed in the forward's playing with the media.
Goals are the most visible improvement, according to Southgate.
I believe that as the season has progressed, you should have expected him to score when he has got opportunities. Perhaps that was a little less certain in earlier seasons.I believe that in order to work with Erik [ten Hag], he had to approach things slightly differently. As a team, we have placed a little more emphasis on it. "At the moment, I still think he's better from the left than as a nine, but he's definitely made progress as a nine this year and had a bigger impact," I said. "I would say the goal total is big progress for him and something he will be pleased about."
Rashford was a substitute for England in their easy 4-0 victory.
