After talks with Julian Nagelsmann and Mikel Arteta, the head coaches of Arsenal and Spain, failed to advance, PSG is moving to bring in former Spain manager Luis Enrique.According to 90min, after Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, dissociated himself from any interest, Paris Saint-Germain is nearing the decision to hire Luis Enrique as their new head coach.
Despite winning the Ligue 1 championship in 2022–2023, PSG announced earlier this month that Christophe Galtier would not be returning to the Parc Des Princes as manager for the upcoming campaign.
Numerous individuals were mentioned, including Jose Mourinho. There were discussions with Julian Nagelsmann, but unlike comparable discussions at Chelsea and Tottenham, they did not result in his appointment.
Sources have told 90min that PSG football advisor Luis Campos pushed the team to consider Mikel Arteta as the new Arsenal manager. However, 90min is aware that no discussions took place because it was immediately apparent that the Spaniard, who began his own playing career with an 18-month loan at PSG, was not even thinking about leaving this summer.
Enrique quickly became PSG's main priority after he, like Nagelsmann, had discussions with Chelsea and Tottenham. Over the weekend, talks to agree terms with the former Spain coach started.
Enrique and 90min have now reached an understanding about the terms, but certain minor issues and staffing arrangements still need to be resolved before his arrival can be officially confirmed.Toby Cudworth is joined by Graeme Bailey and Sean Walsh on this week's episode of Talking Transfers, a podcast on the 90min network, to explore the most recent transfer rumors. The future of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi's shocking transfer to Inter Miami, Declan Rice's potential signing with Arsenal, Tottenham's summer intentions, and more topics are on the agenda.
Michael Nicholson, chief executive of Celtic, added: "Having spoken to Brendan and discussed the club's strategy and objectives with him, I can see the passion he has for taking the club forward positively and building on what we have achieved."
