Golden Boy top 10 index proves there's a clear winner


The candidates for the Golden Boy 2023 have been revealed and according to the ranking, there will be a clear winner.



Last year, the prestigious award went to Barcelona youngster Pablo Gavi, who beat Jamal Musiala and Jude Bellingham.


Ahead of this year's awards, Football Benchmark assessed each candidate's chances and a clear favorite emerged.

Atalanta's Giorgio Scalvini, who is rated 80.2, starts in the top 10.



Ajax defender Devyne Rensch is in ninth place with a score of 80.6, while RB Salzburg forward Benjamin Sesko is right ahead with a score of 80.7.


Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz is seventh with 83.7, with Dutchman Xavi Simons highly rated in sixth with 87. Barcelona full-back Alejandro Balde goes on to receive 87.8 .


Benfica's Antonio Silva, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League, starts in the top four. The young Portuguese player was scored by Football Benchmark 91.6.

In third place was last year's winner, Gavi, who had an overall score of 93.



Bellingham is expected to miss out again as their 95 rating is only good enough for second place.


According to the Football Benchmark, the overall winner of the 2023 Golden Boy award will be Bayern Munich's Musiala, who received a score of 98.3.




In the 22/23 season, Musiala was one of the stars of Bayern with 16 goals and 16 assists in 47 appearances in all competitions.


Previously, Musiala revealed that he idolized Lionel Messi and Neymar while growing up.


Speaking to the Bundesliga, he said:

"When I was growing up, I also watched a lot of videos of Messi and Neymar. I was always amazed at the way they dribble and it was interesting to watch them play.
