Ahead of this summer's transfer window, a number of central defenders have been linked with major transfers.
Players like Joskol Gvardiol and Jurrien Timber have been closely linked with a move to the Premier League.

The CIES Football Observatory has now ranked the most valuable defenders in world football. Arsenal player Gabriel Magalhaes tops the top 10 with a transfer value of 70.2 million euros. The Brazilian's teammate, William Saliba, is ninth with a value of 70.9 million euros.
In eighth place is Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate, who received a transfer value of 72 million euros after impressing at the club's Anfield.

Konaté's former teammate at RB Leipzig, Dayot Upamecano ranked 7th with 75.6 million euros.
Borussia Dortmund's Nico Schlotterbeck and Barcelona's Ronaldo Araujo are sixth and fifth after being valued at €80.7 million and €81.9 million, respectively. Three-time Manchester City winner Ruben Dias almost broke into the top three as he sat in fourth place with a transfer value of €84.4m.
Benfica's favorite defender Antonio Silva starts in the top 3. The young Portuguese player is valued at 89.5 million euros.

Gvardiol has been closely linked with a move to Man City as the summer transfer window draws ever closer.

It has been widely reported that Gvardiol could leave Leipzig for a fee of 100 million euros.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Man City is better positioned than other clubs to recruit the highly-rated Croatia international.
