Barcelona star, ?Gavi, was subjected to merciless 'p*ta Barca' chants during National League celebrations in Spain.

Spain beat Croatia 5-4 on penalties to win the Nations League on Sunday as they got their first win since Euro 2012.

Dani Carvajal scored the winning goal on the penalty spot to deprive Luka Modric of Croatia's first international honor, much to his dismay.

La Roya celebrated her victory with a parade on Monday, with 18-year-old Gavi giving a speech after starting in Rotterdam.

But his speech was interrupted by rival fans, who chanted 'p*ta (meaning damn it) Barca' as he addressed the crowd. He looked angry as his clubmate Jordi Alba made a shocked pose as he looked from behind.

It is understandable that Gavi's despicable exhortations have sent social media into a frenzy.

One Twitter user wrote:

"They hate Barca more than they love their club."

A second tweet:

“Sad people, really pitiful people.

The third added:

"What is Spain without La Masia?"

The fourth said:

"Bad acts. Torturing an 18-year-old in the success of your own national team."

Another commented:

"An 18-year-old young man, imagine that. People forget he's just a kid."

Gavi graduated from Barca's famous youth academy before being promoted to the first team. He made his debut in August 2021 and has since made 96 appearances in all club competitions.

Despite his success with Spain, his loyalty to the club is unpopular with some fans.

Speaking after successfully taking the penalty, Carvajal talked about the team's victory in the Nations League.

“Very happy for us. That is a unique opportunity. We got knocked out early in other tournaments and today we have to take advantage of that," he said.

“We were confident in the penalty shootout and it went well.

"I know how to get it. I know I'll be the sixth [recipient]. I gave a motivational speech in the caucus and was very emotional. I wanted to do like Panenka and it went well."
