Harry Kane is reportedly "hopeful" Manchester United will revive interest and make a bid for him, despite Tottenham's firm stance.

United are understood to have abandoned their interest in signing Kane from Spurs this summer, despite Erik ten Hag's "obsession" to bring him to Old Trafford and Luke Shaw's attempts to persuade him to sign up to join the club in England's newest camp.

United are ready to look elsewhere after accepting the Three Lions captaincy would be too costly and out of their reach.

But according to the Daily Mail, Kane has not given up hope of moving to Old Trafford this summer and wants the Red Devils to make an opening bid. Spurs want £100m but United are reluctant to pay that much as Kane will soon turn 30 and his contract is set to expire next summer.

However, a price tag of around £80m will tempt United as the Den Haag side are in dire need of signing a new striker.

Daniel Levy is determined to keep Kane in north London - hoping he will sign a new contract in the next 12 months - and the Tottenham chairman is not looking to sell him to a direct rival. Real Madrid are also interested in signing the forward as they look to replace Karim Benzema following his move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad, although the availability of Kylian Mbappe could change those plans.

Kane has scored 280 goals and provided 64 assists in 435 games for Tottenham, but it is understood he is keen to seek new challenges.

With 213 goals, he is the second all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League - his aim is to beat Alan Shearer's record 260. After so many years and memories spent at the north London, Harry Kane think now is the right time for he to move on in his football career and go for a new challenge for himself.
