While getting ready to make a third offer for West Ham captain Declan Rice, Arsenal is making good progress in negotiations to sign Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz.

The Arsenal are looking to bolster the group of players that manager Mikel Arteta guided to second place in the Premier League the previous campaign.

Earlier this year, Rice emerged as a prominent target, but the PA news agency has learned that a move for Havertz may now also be imminent.

The 24-year-old may be on the verge of moving across London to join the Gunners after scoring 19 Premier League goals in 91 games for the Blues.

It's believed that Havertz has not yet received a new offer, although the teams' respective valuations of the player

Following his release from Hibernian, Kyle Magnnis signed a two-year contract with Kilmarnock.

The 24-year-old midfielder's nearly three-year stay at Easter Road, which was severely hampered by injury, saw him make 49 appearances.

The former captain of St. Mirren was excited to work with Killie manager Derek McInnes.

"The gaffer has always been interested in me and he's someone I wanted to work with, so over the past few weeks the move has fallen into place," Magennis said on the website of his new team.

"This is a new beginning for me. I've had a couple difficult seasons due to injury, but I feel well and am prepared to play. I'm confident that if I play, the club will greatly benefit from having me.

On Tuesday, West Ham rejected a second offer for Rice that would have made the English midfielder the most expensive acquisition in Arsenal history.

West Ham is reportedly having trouble accepting Arsenal's offer because of the way the add-ons are structured. West Ham is adamant on getting £100 million for their captain.

Romeo Lavia, a midfielder for Southampton, and Jurrien Timber, an Ajax forward, have both been linked to Arsenal.
