According to the PA news agency, Manchester City and Chelsea have reached a £30 million agreement for Mateo Kovacic to join the club.
The 29-year-old Croatian international will cost the triple champions an initial £25 million, with a further $5 million in conceivable add-ons.
Kovacic, who transferred from Real Madrid to Chelsea in 2018, has one season left on his deal at Stamford Bridge.
City will now try to finish the paperwork for a transfer with the player.
At a time when captain Ilkay Gundogan's future is uncertain, Kovacic will be City's first acquisition of the summer and provide manager Pep Guardiola more alternatives in the middle of the field.
