This was followed by the sale of Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain in 2014 for 63 million euros (Ł54 million). Then there was a sharp drop to the next biggest buy in the post-Ferguson era, with Daniel James' €29m (Ł25m) move to Leeds United in 2021, standing third on the list.

The Wire claims that in the 10 years since Ferguson left as manager, United have earned just €398.4m (Ł342m) from player sales.
