Manchester United are linked with PSV Eindhoven's Xavi Simons, however, Paris Saint-Germain hold the key to a deal.
According to Dutch newspaper Voetbal International, Manchester United have a stake in PSV Eindhoven midfielder Xavi Simons.
Simons, 20, has had a standout season in the Eredivisie, scoring 22 goals in all competitions and registering nine assists.
The youngster can play as both a central attacking midfielder and a left winger, and would be an interesting player to add to Manchester United's attack.
Xavi Simons admires Ruud van Nistelrooy
Xavi Simons spent most of the 2022/23 season under PSV boss Ruud Van Nistelrooy before leaving at the end of the season. Van Nistelrooy is a big fan of the creative midfielder, having praised his attitude in an earlier interview with Voetbal International.
I said:
“He is doing everything he can to reach his peak, his peak. And where it will be is the beautiful challenge.
“This piece of him, wanting to do everything for it, I realize that from myself as a player. I can only take advantage of this.
"His mentality, his mental state, was unprecedented. Only 19 years old, but Xavi is much older than her age.
"But he's really a pure professional player, a goal-oriented boy who wants to make the most of his qualities."
Paris Saint-Germain Leads Hunt for Xavi Simons
Manchester United are not the only team interested in Xavi Simons. Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund have both been linked with the midfielder.
However, it is Paris Saint-Germain who holds the key to signing Simons this summer.
Fabrizio Romano reports that PSG have a buyout clause of just £5m for Simons, after leaving the French side a year ago. It's a good deal, but Simons' future will depend on him. Rom adds:
"The final decision rests with the ONLY player."
He also added that Manchester United were one of the teams that had 'asked to be informed' of the midfielder's situation.
A move for Simons may seem like a long shot for United, but it's well worth watching. He is a very special talent, one that could grow under Erik ten Hag.
