Chelsea seem to be focusing on improving their attack in the 2023/2024 season by bringing in new signings who will help them perform well.

Their first major signing in the 2022 summer transfer window is Christopher Nkunku. The French striker joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig for 65 million euros. His flexibility and creativity allows him to adapt to different positions.

The Blues can line up with Christopher Nkunku in three ways. The first option might be to have him play as a winger alongside Raheem Sterling and then place Armando Broja in the center forward position. Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher can play in attacking midfield, with Enzo Fernandez as central defensive midfielder in a 4-3-3 formation.

Using a 4-2-1-3 formation, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke can play as a winger with Armando Broja at centre-back. Christopher Nkunku will be the attacking midfielder while Enzo Fernandez and Loftus Cheek will play in the central midfield position.

A third option could be for Christopher Nkunku to play at centre-back with Raheem Sterling and Noni Madueke in the wing, Christian Pulisic as an attacking midfielder. Then Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher will be the central midfield pairing in the 4-2-1-3 formation.

Chelsea have lowered their asking price for Manchester United target Mason Mount after the midfielder reiterated he would not sign a new contract to stay at Stamford Bridge.

United had a second offer for Mount rejected on Monday but they are expected to return with an improved offer.

The offer is worth around £45m plus £5m, well below Chelsea's initial asking price of £75m for Mount.

However, Fabrizio Romano insists Mount told Chelsea following United's second offer that he had absolutely no intention of extending his contract with the club.

Mount's current contract expires in 2024 and he can pre-sign with non-English clubs from January 1. Chelsea are trying their best to balance the books after spending £600m over the last two seasons and Mount is one of their most valuable assets.

As such, the club will now accept a fee close to £60m, but that would be the upper limit United are willing to hit.

Erik ten Hag has other targets in midfield and with United's budget of around £120m, the club cannot spend more than half that amount on a midfielder.

United are keen to sign a striker, a goalkeeper and a defender.

However, the Dutchman needs to increase his budget through the sale of players, with Dean Henderson, Scott McTominay, Fred, Alex Telles, Eric Bailly and Anthony Martial up for sale.
