After first joining Motherwell on a temporary basis during the end of the previous season, Harry Paton has now committed to a new two-year deal with the club.

The 25-year-old Canadian midfielder was Stuart Kettlewell's first signing when he joined in April, and he played in seven games as the Fir Park team completed the season strongly.

Paton, who played for Ross County under Well's direction in the past, has now dedicated his career to the Steelmen through 2025.

"It's great that I've been given this opportunity," he said to the Well website.

"My brief stay here last season was really enjoyable, and right now all of my attention is on getting going again."

Kettlewell is enthusiastic about the contributions Paton can make to Motherwell once he has completed a full preseason.

"Harry showed signs of real quality last season," he claimed.

It was challenging for him to sign when he did since he had to pick up speed rapidly and assist us in crossing the finish line.He now has the summer to be ready physically and psychologically, and I can't wait to work with him once more.

He provides us with tremendous talent in the middle of the pitch, and we get along well personally.

The announcement of Paton's signing coincides with the announcement that Dean Cornelius has left Motherwell and joined Harrogate on a two-year deal.

After making his debut in May 2019, the 22-year-old midfielder played more than 50 times for the group he followed as a boy.

For the forthcoming season, Motherwell extended a new contract to Cornelius, but he chose to accept a position with English League Two club Harrogate.

"I've said for a while that I've always wanted to challenge myself down in England, and I feel like Harrogate is the right club for me," he added, according to the Town website.

The manager's ambitions for the upcoming season perfectly complemented what I want to do in my career, so hopefully we can go forward and have a successful season.Leaving Motherwell was never going to be simple.
