Odin Thiago Holm, a Norwegian midfielder, has signed a five-year deal with Celtic, marking the club's first signing during Brendan Rodgers' second management tenure.
The 20-year-old transfer from Eliteserien team Valerenga is said to have cost somewhere about £2.5 million.
Prior to Rodgers' return to Celtic as manager earlier this week, Holm was already on the club's radar. The Northern Irishman has given the new hire his blessing, calling him "an exciting young player."
The recently hired Hoops manager said on the club's website, "We are thrilled to bring Odin to the club and to seal his signature so early in the window.
"The club has been actively scouting and recruiting players like him for some time.
I've observed him attentively and think he has the potential to have a significant impact on the club.Odin is an ambitious, interesting young player who I have already had the pleasure of getting to know, and I know he is thrilled to be joining us.He is a fantastic addition to the talented team we already have, and we are eager to collaborate with him.
On Friday afternoon at Celtic Park, Rodgers will make his first appearance before the media since being named Ange Postecoglou's successor.
BlueCo, the owners of Chelsea, has agreed to buy a stake in French club RC Strasbourg, who placed 15th in the just-concluded Ligue 1 season.
Marc Keller, president of Strasbourg, who played for West Ham, Portsmouth, and Blackburn between 1998 and 2002, will continue in his role as per the agreement.
Chelsea was acquired by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital's parent firm, BlueCo, last summer. The purchase of Strasbourg has already been compared to that of City Football Group, a multi-club organization that owns teams in Spain, France, the United States, Australia, Japan, China, India, Uruguay, and other countries.
Following his official confirmation earlier this week, Celtic fans are starting to see and hear from new manager Brendan Rodgers more frequently.
