The KNUST community is devastated by the tragic news of the passing of Joseph Awortwe, a final-year student pursuing a BA in Indigenous Art & Technology. On Wednesday, 21st June 2023, the university was struck by profound sadness upon learning of Joseph's untimely demise.

Today, we gather to remember and reflect upon the life of a promising individual who touched the lives of many during his time at KNUST.


Joseph Awortwe's journey at KNUST was filled with aspirations and dedication to his field of study. As a final year student in the BA Indigenous Art & Technology program, he showed great talent and passion for his chosen discipline. His creative abilities and unique perspective left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of witnessing his work.


During the first semester, Joseph experienced a concerning health issue when his leg became swollen. Seeking proper treatment, he returned home with the hope of finding a solution. Sadly, on Wednesday, 21st June, he passed on. The news sent shockwaves through the university, leaving everyone especially his course mates grappling with the sudden loss of a vibrant and promising mate. 


The news of Joseph Awortwe's passing has sent shockwaves through his coursemates, leaving them in a state of disbelief and profound sorrow. Among them, there is one individual who had a special connection with Joseph, as he had received reassuring words from Joseph himself about his improving health and imminent return to school. The weight of this sudden loss is particularly heavy on this coursemate, who had held onto hope and now finds himself grappling with the harsh reality of Joseph's untimely departure.



The passing of Joseph Awortwe, a beloved and talented individual, has left the KNUST campus enveloped in sorrow and grief. As his mates and friends come to terms with this devastating loss, the void he leaves behind is palpable. Joseph's presence brought light and joy to those around him, and his absence is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
