Asmir Begovic, a former goalkeeper for Everton, feels that the "inconsistency" of those in charge of the organization has made life challenging for both staff and players.

The ex-international for Bosnia and Herzegovina has a contract that expires next week, but his exit from Goodison Park has already been announced, capping a two-year spell during which the Toffees twice came dangerously close to being relegated.

As a result of numerous fan protests, Everton's chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale, chief financial officer Grant Ingles, and non-executive director and former striker Graeme Sharp all resigned from their positions last week. Everton is also being investigated by the Premier League for violating profit and sustainability rules.

Bill Kenwright, the long-serving chairman who has drawn the ire of the supporters, was supposed to have his future decided within the next 48 hours, but 10 days have passed and he is still in his position.

According to the PA news agency, Kenwright, who has served in his current position for 19 years, had intended to retire last week. However, owner Farhad Moshiri's intervention complicated matters and left senior club officials unsure of what to do next.

Begovic described his time at the club to talkSPORT, saying, "We obviously had some financial issues and a lot of inconsistency (with) people running the place so that makes it very difficult for the staff and the players."

The club's potential sale to American investors MSP Capital, who are reported to desire two executives on the board, may be the reason why no new board members have been appointed. MSP Capital is close to reaching an agreement to purchase a stake in the club, possibly amounting to up to 25%.

Just over a week before their first friendly match against Stade Nyonais in Switzerland, on July 6, Everton's players are scheduled to return to preseason training. However, full-back Nathan Patterson has already spent several weeks at the club's Finch Farm training facility working on his recovery from a hamstring injury that ended his campaign early.
