Chelsea & Arsenal join Man Utd in £35m battle as Edu faces Timber decision

According to a recent report, Arsenal and Chelsea have joined the race to sign AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi, although Manchester United currently have the upper hand in pursuing the player. Disasi, who had an impressive season with Monaco, scoring six goals in 49 appearances, has attracted interest from several clubs. Ajax had previously identified him as a potential addition to their center-back options, but with their primary target, Kim Min-jae, close to joining Bayern Munich, United may intensify their pursuit of Disasi. It is reported that United is yet to make a formal offer but plans to hold discussions with the player in the near future.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea have now entered the picture, adding to the competition for Disasi's signature. Chelsea, in particular, are in need of a replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly, who is expected to join Al Hilal. They are considering Disasi as a potential option, although they also have young talent Levi Colwill, who has impressed during his loan spell at Brighton, ready to be integrated into the first team. Despite interest from Brighton to sign Colwill permanently, Chelsea has no intention of letting him leave.

In terms of Arsenal's transfer plans, they are reportedly more focused on strengthening their midfield rather than the defense. They are considering Southampton's Romeo Lavia as a potential target, especially with the likelihood of Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey departing the club. Similarly, Chelsea is also expected to make midfield acquisitions, with N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic potentially leaving the club. Kante's move to Al Ittihad has already been confirmed, while Chelsea has reached a £30 million agreement with Manchester City for the transfer of Kovacic.

Overall, the competition for Axel Disasi's signature is heating up, with Manchester United currently leading the race. Arsenal and Chelsea have shown interest but seem to have alternative priorities, particularly in bolstering their midfield options. The transfer plans of these clubs involve potential departures, such as Folarin Balogun and Kieran Tierney, which could free up resources for marquee signings.
