Liverpool are ranked 19th out of 20 Premier League teams in terms of net owner sponsorship.
Owned by American businessman John W Henry's Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool have won every major title under his leadership.
However, the lack of investment is what Liverpool fans have criticized FSG in recent years.
Despite the massive outlays on Virgil van Dijk, Darwin Nunez and Alisson, the Anfield faithful want more.

Now, according to a report from The Athletic, Liverpool are 19th in the Premier League in terms of net owner sponsorship. Owner's net sponsorship is the amount invested in the club by the owners minus the amount withdrawn as dividends.
Over the past five years, FSG has a net funding source of £37m, while owners Manchester City have invested £81m in the club, with that figure increasing dramatically over the past decade.

The Athletic report also looks at transfer spending over the past five years.
Liverpool's total cost was £660m, again lower than City's £992m.
Manchester United spent £850m while Arsenal's total was £676m. After seeing the report, Liverpool fans were quick to react on social media.

“FSG has to sell. Not a half-sale where the profits will go to FSG and not the club, but a full sale to owners who will spend enough to give us a chance to compete with owned clubs. state ownership and teams like Chelsea.
A third fan added:
"It's pathetic that Klopp has to work with one of the highest-paid teams in the world in recent years."

While a fifth commented:
“We need to sell one of Salah, Alison or Trent who can fund our next team. It's a really sad truth."
Liverpool are entering a crucial summer transfer window as they look to get back to the top once again. To date, they have signed Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister and have been linked with the likes of Manu Kone, Nicolo Barella, Khephren Thuram and Gabri Veiga.
