The PA news agency has learned that Manchester United has submitted an upgraded offer for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.
Mount is one of United's transfer targets because his deal at Stamford Bridge is set to expire in the summer of 2019.
Last week, after their initial offer was rejected down, United countered with a bid of £45 million plus $5 million in add-ons.
That was reportedly also turned down. Chelsea has now received United's most recent offer, which is estimated to be in the neighborhood of £55 million but has not yet been evaluated.
According to reports, Chelsea is apparently holding out for a bigger fee of up to £65 million, but United are only willing to go so far.
given that the player's contract is about to expire and that this summer they also need to strengthen in other areas.
The signing of Mount would undoubtedly improve United manager Erik ten Hag's options in a crucial midfield position.
