Dara O'Shea, a defender for the Republic of Ireland, has been acquired by Burnley from West Brom.
Following the Clarets' promotion to the Premier League, the 24-year-old signed a four-year contract at Turf Moor.
After winning the Sky Bet Championship title the previous season, Vincent Kompany's team opens the new top-flight campaign at home against champions Manchester City on Friday, August 11.
O'Shea told Burnley's website, "It feels great to be here and I really can't wait to get going."
"Burnley was the best squad last year and they accomplished extraordinary things.
"I want to develop as a player first and foremost, and I also want to aid the team in achieving its objectives.
I want to push myself at this point in my career. This club can assist me in becoming the best version of myself, and I can also assist them.
Dublin-born O'Shea, who has 19 international appearances to his name, played 107 times for the Baggies, spending time on loan at Hereford and Exeter as well.
"It's great to welcome Dara to Burnley, and we know he can play a big part in the progression of our football club," Clarets manager Kompany said.He is a leader with experience playing at the highest level, strong at the back and assured going forward.
After previously being close to an agreement on new terms, the Red Devils and the Spaniard are currently in the middle of negotiations over a new contract.
In order to work out the details of a new deal at Old Trafford, De Gea turned down a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia earlier in June. However, he is now more likely than ever to depart United at the end of the month.
As negotiations with De Gea continued, 90min reported on Tuesday that United were actively searching the goalkeeper market, with Porto's Diogo Costa and Brentford's David Raya among their objectives. Onana, who worked for Ajax manager Erik ten Hag, was another candidate on their radar, and insiders have told 90min that the team has held conversations with him.
