According to reports, Manchester United plans to make a third offer of more than 55 million for Chelsea's Mason Mount and is eager to close the deal.
Chelsea countered United's two offers with a sum of 60
million plus add-ons.
Red Devils make a third offer of more than 55 million.
WHAT OCCURED? Fabrizio Romano claims that Manchester United
have stepped up their pursuit of Mount and have made a final offer in excess of
55 million, which is more in line with Chelsea's demands of 60 million plus
5 million in add-ons. United and Mount have already reached a personal
agreement, and they want to close the deal as soon as possible.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: Erik ten Hag is still interested in signing the England international playmaker because he wants to inject more creativity into his midfield. If Chelsea rejects the club's revised offer as well, they might decide to look elsewhere.
Additionally, the Blues want to get the best price for their academy graduate because they want to trim down their overstuffed squad. Additionally, they are working to raise money to support a fresh offer for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.
Before making his first-team debut in August 2019, Mount,
who joined the Chelsea academy at the age of six, had loan stints with Dutch
club Vitesse Arnhem and Derby County.
He was a first-team regular for three seasons, contributing
to the Blues' Champions League victory in 202021, but his number of Premier
League starts fell to 20 in 202223.
With 33 goals from 195 appearances for the Blues, Mount
finished the domestic season injured and Chelsea finished 12th.
THEN WHAT? It is unclear if Chelsea will accept United's
revised offer for Mount, who has played 195 times for the Blues. The player has
already stated that he will complete his current contract in 2024 and become a
free agent.
