Rodrigo Bentancour hopes to return to Tottenham in two to three months after picking up a serious knee injury
The midfielder has revealed how much he has enjoyed spending more time with his family during his injury
Rodrigo Bentancour has revealed he hopes to return to Tottenham in "two or three months" as he continues to recover from a serious knee injury.
The midfielder tore ligaments in his left knee in Leicester's defeat in February and has not given a return date. In his absence, first Antonio Conte and then Christian Stellini was sacked before Ryan Mason took over and failed to guide Spurs to European qualification for the next season.
If Bentancour returns, it will be Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham. The Australian was announced as the club's new permanent manager earlier this month and has vowed to bring joy back to the club.
Bentancour will miss the start of the new season but the 25-year-old confirmed his knee is "very good" and revealed how much he is enjoying spending more time with his family outside of training. The injury came at a time when I was really good but there was really nothing I could do about what happened, he told Telemundo via ESPN.
"I've missed a lot on a family level and everything I've experienced in these four months with my daughter and my boyfriend has been priceless." That's why my recovery time is running so fast and I'm doing so well.
"It's a long injury, one of the toughest in football, but actually I'm having fun with my family." I train the same thing every day, I do double shifts two to three times a week. “I brought club physiotherapy to Uruguay. We keep working and my knee is fine. I haven't set lap times yet, but I hope to get at least a few minutes in two or three months."
