A player's position on the field largely determines his performance. Over the years, the abilities and achievements of some players have improved after their positions were changed.

On one such player is former Manchester City star Fernandinho. The former Manchester City player is a midfielder by trade. However, when he was transferred to a central defender, he performed very well in that role. Another player whose form has improved after switching careers is former Arsenal star Aleksander Lacazette. The current Lyon star was a right winger during his first stint at Lyon but switched to a striker when he joined Arsenal. It was a position he played effectively and continues to play there.

Another player whose job change has improved his record is current Atletico Madrid star Memphis Depay. The Dutchman failed at Manchester United as he couldn't find his footing in the left-winger position. However, upon joining Lyon, he was transformed into a striker, where he flourished and moved to Barcelona.

Another player who has also benefited from the recent position change is Toni Kroos. The German midfielder used to be an attacking midfielder. However, since joining Real Madrid, he has been deployed in the central midfield position and has achieved much success.

Liverpool are said to be discussing the prospect of signing another right-back during the summer transfer window.

Liverpool are said to have held talks with Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard's agent, which could suggest that the Reds are on the hunt for a new right-back this summer. The decision could be related to the transition of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has recently thrived in central midfield roles for club and country.

Alexander-Arnold made headlines during the Three Lions' recent international break - scoring against Malta before providing a superb assist for Bukayo Saka in the 7-0 destruction of North Macedonia.

And now it looks like Liverpool are planning to provide more support as they prepare to continue using Alexander-Arnold in central position. According to Bild, the Reds have branded Pavard as a possible summer signing with the Bayern player set to begin a new challenge this summer.

Journalist Christian Falk told Caught Offisde:

“Liverpool and Pavard. They have discussed it with agents but never specifically with the club and that is also the view of other clubs.

“Not many clubs are interested in Pavard. There's been and there's Barca, there's Liverpool, there's Chelsea, so if Man City is on the table, so is City."

It looks like Liverpool could face stiff competition from rivals Chelsea and Manchester City as both look to improve their defences this summer. Liverpool recently loaned Preston youngster Calvin Ramsay, which also suggests they are looking to bolster their options at right-back.

In the past, James Milner was easily suitable for the role of assistant but this old man has now joined Brighton on a free transfer.

In recent days, Kyle Walker is said to have made a shocking move to move to Anfield.

But that doesn't seem possible at the moment as Bayern Munich are clearly the more overrated team should they leave the Etihad Stadium with talks over a new contract underway.

Former Liverpool winger John Barnes doesn't think a move to Walker is realistic. He told the betting expert:

"Kyle Walker would be good but Kyle Walker didn't come [when asked about RBs that fit Liverpool's style]. Of course, there are right-backs that would be good for Liverpool. Kieran Trippier is one of them.

"But I don't see Liverpool getting any players in the Premier League. I don't think they are looking for a right-back, they are looking for midfielders.

Liverpool are also set to hand Alexander-Arnold a new contract in the coming months after he ends the season in a special way.

Jurgen Klopp is currently building his squad around the 24-year-old and can certainly switch to a back three in the long run. The Red Devils are currently prioritizing midfield strengthening at the moment, but they could also make changes to the backline.
