Tottenham are looking to strengthen their defense in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham are said to have five defenders in their sights as they look to improve Ange Postecoglou's leaky backline. Although Spurs had some useless plays in front of goal last season, it is appreciated that they will also need to tighten their defense if they are to succeed under the new Australian boss.
The futures of Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez remain uncertain - among others - and Tottenham are now actively looking for upgrades following Clement Lenglet's return to Barcelona on loan.
According to 90min, Edmond Tapsoba, Harry Maguire, Aymeric Laporte, Marc Guehi and Max Kilman are names on their wish lists. Tottenham appear to have increased their interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Tapsoba in recent days.
Spurs are currently reviewing the terms of a deal for Burkina Faso, whom Leverkusen is unlikely to sell at a discount due to his eye-catching display in the Bundesliga.
Arsenal have also been monitoring the centre-back in recent months and now Spurs appear to have formalized their interest.
However, there are plenty of other candidates, including England defender Maguire, who is leaving Manchester United this summer.
Tottenham have been closely linked with Maguire before but they have yet to make an offer. Three-time Man City winner Laporte will leave the club this summer as he looks to pursue regular football.
He would be a natural replacement for Lenglet as he can play on the left wing in a back three as he has done so many times with England.
Crystal Palace's Guehi is also highly admired, but the defender is believed to be worth upwards of £50m this summer.
A cheaper option could be Wolves' Kilman as he can play in both 4-man and 3-man defence.
It is currently unclear whether Wolves are in business as they are close to accepting the £25m sale of Nathan Collins to Brentford. If defense is a priority, other signings are also on Postecoglou's agenda.
A new goalkeeper is about to appear with Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario due to undergo a medical examination.
James Maddison is also a priority as Spurs look to sign a playmaker as they prepare for a possible systemic change next season.
A young striker is also on the agenda with Harvey Barnes and Xavi Simons both considered interesting.
