Burnley caused a stir online after making the unmissable transfer announcement for new signing Dara O'Shea.



The Clarets have completed the £7m signing of the Republic of Ireland defender from West Brom.


O'Shea, 24, has made 19 caps for the national team and will join the newly promoted side on a four-year deal, keeping him at Turf Moor until 2027.


The Dublin-born defender has made over a hundred appearances for the Baggies and has Premier League experience from the club's 2020/21 season in the top flight.




When signing with the club, O'Shea said:

“It's great to be here and I'm really looking forward to getting started. "Burnley were a special team last season and they did exceptional things. Above all, I want to improve as a player and I want to help the club achieve their goals. "


And the club welcomed it in perfect parody of the iconic "wazzap" scene from the 2000 movie "Scary Movie".

When Marlon Wayans' character Dookie asked him what he was doing, O'shea picked up the phone and said:

"I'm relaxing. I'm signing for Burnley."



Fans were quick to praise Burnley's announcement on Twitter.


One fan wrote:

"Burnley administrators are never disappointed with new contract signing announcements. My club."


Another added:

"And today's internet winners belong".

The third person wrote:

"Burnley deserves to start the season with +12 points just for that."


While the fourth replied:

"Another sick text from Burnley lol".


This is not the first time the club has been praised for their antics on social media, with the club producing a hilarious Shrek skit to announce the signing of Lyle Foster in October. January.


Speaking about the signing of O'Shea, coach Vincent Kompany said:

"It's great to welcome Dara to Burnley and we know he can play an important role in the growth of our football club. Strong in defence and confident going forward, a leader with experience and understanding of the game at the highest level." Advertisement
