At Celtic, Brendan Rodgers is excited about the chance to build upon the "great foundation" Ange Postecoglou laid.
Following a season in which his predecessor won five of the six domestic trophies available, including a treble last season, before departing earlier this month to become manager of Tottenham, the Northern Irishman has returned to take command of the Hoops.
Rodgers acknowledges it is unusual for him to take on a new post while the squad is already in such a strong position, but he believes the fact that he and Postecoglou have similar views on how the game should be played may ensure a smooth transition.
I visit a club because it has an uplifting vibe for one of the very few times in my career, he remarked. "The teams have been struggling at a lot of the jobs I've taken on, so I went in to fix it.On the strength of the excellent work Ange has done over the past few years, I've entered this situation with a strong foundation.
“Ange and I have written messages back and forth, but we have not spoken. John Kennedy, who has played a key role at the club and who will be my assistant, and I have had extensive conversations.
I clearly also watched Celtic. The way we would approach our business is not all that different from the football concept.
It is an offensive club. You must triumph, and you must triumph in a particular way stylistically. Ange has definitely done that, and maybe we'll be able to continue doing that during my subsequent term. It carries on from that and, hopefully, builds upon it.
Although Rodgers is "excited" about the team he has taken over, he is eager to recruit quality players in the near future in preparation for the Champions League, which begins in September.
"Whenever you've done so well, it's a good time to strengthen," he remarked. I've been in that situation previously, and we were able to complete another treble, so I can now relate to the feeling of a team coming off of a triple.
