Manchester United are accused of ruining English football

Despite their difficulties in recent years, United remains one of the most attractive clubs for players.

Over the past few seasons, the Old Trafford team has splashed out on players like Jadon Sancho, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.

However, former United player Paul Parker has been very critical of the club when it comes to modern football in general.

He told the betting expert:

“The Premier League has become a circus because it's all about money. This circus division is slowly killing our game and the circus division has taken everything good from our football.

"There was a time, many years ago, when players signed for Man United because it was Manchester United. Nowadays, players sign for Man United because... Yes, god knows them. How many million pounds can you earn?

"That's why Man United is also guilty of ruining this country's football. They are not the only club to be guilty but also not innocent.

He added:

"The kids are growing up now and they have a bad image of football. They think it's a sport you start doing because you want to make money.

"They should start playing because they enjoy playing with their friends and want to achieve great things. Not because they want to line their pockets.

Parker went on to say that the Premier League lacks competition.

I said:

“Leicester won the Premier League in 2016. It was amazing. I love it. But does the Premier League want this to happen again? ARE NOT! at all. Of course not.

“We don't want any more outsiders and everything has to be won with an expensive brand. "In the 1970s, when I was a kid, we saw big games and people celebrated like crazy because they were nervous all week before the game.

Parker added:

"It's not like that anymore, and I can be very sad to think about it and even sadder to think that we are about to destroy football, a meritocratic system, really."
