Manchester United make approaches for three possible Mason Mount alternatives after Chelsea talks stall
Manchester United have investigated the availability of at least three players as they consider alternatives to the signing from Mason Mount.
Chelsea have rejected three offers from United for the England international, the most recent of which were rejected on Friday, worth £50m plus £5m in add-ons.
The Blues responded with an offer of £65m, £58m plus £7m in add-ons, which United were unwilling to pay, casting the deal in great doubt.
The Manchester club believe their valuation is fair and are not willing to overpay for a player who is set to be released on a free transfer next year.
United are now turning to other targets with Moises Caicedo as an option under consideration. The Brighton star will be much more expensive following a recent contract extension to 2028, but United believe the £80m fee will be reasonable for a player with the Ecuadorian's potential.
ESPN's reporting requests were made for two other targets in Ajax's Taylor Booth and FC Utrecht's Booth.
Kudus, 22, played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax before the manager's move to Manchester last year and has been linked with a number of Premier League sides, with Brighton also joining the race for the signature. his.
American international Booth, also 22, scored twice and provided four assists in 23 Eredivisie appearances last season as Utrecht finished in seventh.
Ten Hag has made Mount a top transfer target after wanting to work with the 24-year-old for several years, who initially caught his eye while on loan at Vitesse Arnhem. United have left their latest offer of £55m on the negotiating table but the transfer remains deadlocked due to frustration with Chelsea's demand.
It comes as Chelsea have agreed a £30m fee for Mateo Kovacic with Manchester City after relatively troubled negotiations. The Croatian was another player in the final year of his contract in west London.
