The Liverpool boss has been linked with a shock move to become Germany national team coach amid growing pressure on current hot seater Hansi Flick
Jurgen Klopp has announced when he will step down as Liverpool manager amid continued speculation that he is planning to take the potentially vacant job with the German national team.
The person who is leading the German team is of course former Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick, who is currently being closely watched because of his poor form. His side have won only 3 of the last 11 matches, the most recent being a 0-2 loss at home to Colombia.
Unable to make it through to the group stage of the Qatar World Cup late last year, some feel Flick is being loaned out time. If he is cut, many hope Klopp can turn around. Many believe that the German Football League considers Klopp their dream date, but if the latest comments from the Liverpool manager's agent, Marc Kosicke, hold true to that, then so be it. Still just a dream.
"Jurgen has a long-term contract with Liverpool," Kosicke told Bild. "And [Germany] has a national coach. So that's not a problem for us."
Klopp has also previously addressed the speculation surrounding his Red Devils reign, although obviously not everything can be taken for granted.
Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to leave Liverpool anytime soon
When asked if he would return to Germany, Klopp told SWR Sport:
"Definitely to live, after my career. Maybe even in Mainz."
That may be true, but he was also asked in 2020, shortly after signing a contract extension, how long he would be in the Anfield hot seat.
He replied:
"Four years at Liverpool."
That could take him through to 2024, but he has since signed another new contract extending his stay until the summer of 2026. Despite that, Klopp has also openly discussed his life. What his life will be like when he will finally call his stay at Liverpool. The German said he wants to "do nothing for a year", before saying he could return to management or end his career forever.
“Five years from now, the world could be very different,” he said, rather baffled.
Soon after, he told Kicker magazine:
"I have absolute energy. But I have a problem. I can't do 'a little'. I can only do "all or nothing".
"When I decide I can't do it anymore, I'll take a year off."
For now, Liverpool fans can rest assured that Klopp has no intention of cutting his contract short. Looks like the plan remains to see his deal before a long break in Germany in 2026.
