Manchester United have been motivated in their search for a new goalkeeper as one of their top targets could be offered at a reduced price.

With David De Gea's future still open, United are on the hunt for a goalkeeper this summer.

The Spaniard is yet to agree a new deal with the club as he could leave this summer on a free transfer.

While his future remains uncertain, Erik ten Hag scours the market to find his replacement. Many names have been mentioned, including Jordan Pickford of Everton. The England international has been a player of interest for quite some time. Recently, it was reported that Man Utd were ready to make a £ 45 million offer for the 29-year-old.

However, it can be sold at a highly discounted price this summer. According to The Sun, Everton are looking to sell one of their 'giants' this week to balance the books.

The Toffees are trying to raise funds before year-end account closures for the 2022-23 season. Due to their circumstances, they may be forced to sell a player like Pickford below his valuation.

While they value Pickford at around £45m, they may want to sell him for less if they can secure a sale in the coming days.

The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Amadou Onana are also expected to leave recently.

Man Utd have another goalie goal

Man Utd have been linked with a number of other goalkeepers, although Pickford could prove to be the cheaper option, especially if Everton are willing to lower their asking price.

Inter's Andre Onana has been closely linked with Old Trafford following a superb campaign in Italy. Similarly, Porto's Diogo Costa has also been contacted recently.

However, these goalkeepers can cost more. If Man Utd don't want to spend big on a goalkeeper, Pickford could be their best option right now.

With Ten Hag also keen to sign a striker and midfielder this summer, United could be looking to save some cash by signing Pickford at a discounted rate.

As things settle, United are focusing most of their efforts on signing Mason Mount from Chelsea. Ten Hag's side have made a £55m offer for the Chelsea star as they look to finalize the deal as soon as possible.

Fabrizio Romano has made it clear that while United are keen to sign Mount, they won't be waiting for the England international forever.

“Understanding the sub-location of Mount Mason remains clear:

have no intention of signing a new deal when things settle down. Man United now or a free agent in 2024," Romano clarified.

When the Mount story is over, Man Utd should move on to goalkeeping and strikers.
