Barca & Liverpool both chasing promising left-back Patrick Dorgu

FC Barcelona is reportedly showing interest in Patrick Dorgu, an 18-year-old left-back who can also play in midfield. The Danish youngster, who has represented his country at the U-19 level, has been making waves in European football and recently won the Primavera tournament with Italian club Lecce.

Barcelona is said to be in search of left-back options for their reserve team, and Dorgu has caught their attention. According to SPORT, the club is considering him as a potential addition to their ranks. However, Liverpool is also keen on the player and would like him to join their U-23 team.

Dorgu's agent, Kingsley Ogbodo, has confirmed the interest from several clubs, including Barcelona and Liverpool. Lecce, his current club, is also eager to retain his services and has even offered him the opportunity to play in Serie A next season. Additionally, Manchester United has been mentioned as a potential suitor for the talented left-back.

However, Ogbodo believes that staying at Lecce would be the best move for Dorgu's development at this stage. He advised against a premature transfer, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the player's career, development, and playing time rather than monetary incentives.

In terms of his playing style, Dorgu draws comparisons to Alejandro Balde, another promising youngster at Barcelona. Although he may not possess Balde's speed, Dorgu's physical power is considered exceptional. He showcases impressive ball control and the ability to dribble past opponents, as highlighted in a video accompanying the news.

During the current season, Dorgu has made significant contributions to Lecce's Primavera team, scoring four goals. He has also been influential for the Danish U-19 national team, netting two goals and providing an assist in five qualifiers for the U-19 European Championship. One notable fixture was a goalless draw against Spain in March.

As the interest in Dorgu continues to grow, it remains to be seen whether Barcelona, Liverpool, or any other club will be able to secure his signature. His agent's focus on his development suggests that a move may not be imminent, with staying at Lecce appearing to be the preferred option for now.
