Traveling is considered a significant part of education, but not everyone travels to feel safe at their destination. Another problematic aspect of traveling is going solo for the first time. It is not easy to navigate your way through some cities or capital towns across the world if you are traveling solo.

However, not all countries are hard to navigate; some are hustle-free when roaming about or traveling, and this country is Ghana. Ghana is located in the Western part of Africa, and it is one of the most visited tourist destinations in sub-Sahel Africa. It has beautiful beaches, tourist attractions, luxury hotels, and captivating wildlife. Ghana is safe, but always remember that your wit is your best safety guide.

How To Navigate Your Way Through Cities and Towns

One thing that makes Ghana an amazing destination is its freedom to roam and do what you feel like doing. Accra is the capital town of Ghana, and it is one of the easiest-to-navigate capitals in Africa.

Trotro Station or car terminal

Ghana is an open and friendly place where everyone is willing to help and offers to guide travelers for free, while others will require a petty dash. Ghana is an Anglophone country, which means you are good to go if you are a native English speaker or can speak good English. Every local you will meet speaks good English, so there is a chance for you to ask questions to know your way out.

As a solo traveler, the best thing you can do when you first arrive in Ghana is to find a dependable driver to help you roam freely and easily. Another great way for a solo traveler is to try and find a tourism agency that can offer you a guide; they can also help you locate other tourist destinations.

One can also find a suitable travel buddy during their stay in Ghana. There are beach resorts, bars, restaurants, and nightclubs where you can befriend a travel buddy, especially when going to isolated places.

There are intercity caravans called ''Trotro'' that can offer you an affordable way to travel from town to town or city to city. A Trotro driver and a conductor popularly called "mate" in Ghana can offer you great help when going to other cities, towns, or tourist sites. Some drivers can double as security to accompany you to the markets, clubs, restaurants, etc. if you are able to pay their expenses.

Places to Hang out

The best places to hang out as a solo traveler are in decent places; don't try to hang out often in isolated places or move out at night to an unknown location. Appropriate places to spend time are beach resorts, restaurants, cafes, and nightclubs. Those places are where you can meet fellow travelers to mingle and share experiences and tips together.

Wachiau Hippo Sanctuary

One can move around by public transport called Trotro or Taxi to suitable places where one wishes to hang out without hustle. Those who want to travel to farther cities like Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale, etc. could go for VIP buses; they are very convenient, luxurious, and a bit expensive. Always make sure to pick up a car from the designated bus terminal called "Station".

Tourist Destinations

Ghana has amazing and swashbuckling tourist destinations, national parks, forts and castles, and exquisite places to visit. Travelers who want to tour Accra can go to Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Kokrobite, Makola Market, Independence Square, and the Arts Center. The closest city to Accra is the historical and ancient city of Cape Coast.

Cape Coast Castle

Cape Coast is Ghana's first capital town, and it has some wonderful tourist sites and places to visit, such as The Cape Coast and Elmina Castles, Fort Williams and Victoria, Kakuma National Park, Assin Manso Ancestral River, and many more.

A weekend in Kumasi will be a great way to enjoy Ghana. One can visit Bonwire, where Kente cloth is made; there is also Manhyia Palace and the Kumasi Zoo, as well as Lake Bosumtwi. Takoradi, which is located in the western part of Ghana, is also a wonderful city to visit. Travelers can visit Nzulenzo Stilt Village, Busua Beach Resort, or Ankasa Forest Reserve.

Other places of scenic interest are the Volta regions, where you can find the Wli Falls and Mt. Afadjato; one can also visit Boti and Kitampo Falls. The Northern part of Ghana also has places like the Paga crocodile pond, Mole National Park, Wichiau Hippo Sanctuary, and many more beautiful places.
