Liverpool 'will rival Man United and PSG for £150m plus-rated Striker

Reports from Italy suggest that Liverpool has entered the race to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The 24-year-old Nigerian has attracted interest from several top European clubs, including Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea, following an impressive season where he scored 31 goals in 39 games and helped Napoli win the Serie A title.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool is now prepared to compete with these clubs for Osimhen's signature, and offers are expected to be made in the coming days, potentially leading to a bidding war. However, Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis values Osimhen at more than £150 million, a price tag that could deter potential suitors.

Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in the summer of 2020 and has since scored 59 goals in 101 appearances across all competitions. His technical qualities, aerial strength, and suitability to manager Jurgen Klopp's aggressive high-pressing style of play have reportedly caught the attention of Liverpool. The club is said to be targeting Osimhen due to the struggles of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo, who have not fulfilled expectations as natural strikers at Anfield.

Liverpool's pursuit of Osimhen comes after the departure of Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino, whose contract expired recently. However, it remains uncertain whether Osimhen would be willing to leave Champions League football at Napoli for a Europa League campaign with Liverpool.

The player's agent, Roberto Calenda, is reportedly in open dialogue with De Laurentiis regarding a potential contract extension for Osimhen. Napoli is keen to secure the talented striker's services for the long term.

In addition to Liverpool, Manchester United is also in the market for a striker this summer and has shown interest in Osimhen, along with Tottenham's Harry Kane and Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund. Paris Saint-Germain, who have already lost Lionel Messi to Inter Miami, may also consider selling Kylian Mbappe and could be looking to make a move for Osimhen.

The battle for Osimhen's signature is set to intensify in the coming days as clubs weigh up the possibility of meeting Napoli's valuation for the prolific Nigerian striker.
