To address the gap in basic education, an NGO works. A non-profit organisation called United Way Ghana has started its Improving Basic Education (IBE) campaign to help close the achievement gap in the nation's basic schools.

In order to improve literacy in elementary schools, it tries to guarantee that every kid has access to high-quality instruction and the proper literature.

The plan includes Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 4, 8, and 17, which aim to increase access to the delivery of high-quality basic education in disadvantaged areas as well as provide everyone with a decent place to work through partnerships that benefit both parties.

The Ghana Library Authority, Ghana Education Service, Engage Now Africa, and other partners are working together on the initiative.

The Larry MacDonald Family Foundation will provide funding for the IBE initiative over a three-year period. Planned for implementation in Parkoso and Ejisu, it will last three years.

Felix Kissiedu-Addi, Executive Director of United Way Ghana, noted that by 2025, the initiative was anticipated to increase the reading and comprehension skills of over 500 young learners and boost their overall educational performance by more than 60%.

According to him, the program's initiatives include mentorship, teacher capacity building, practical STEM education, fundamental literacy, basic science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education, and economic empowerment for parents.

By enabling students to raise their academic performance, enhance their leadership and soft skills, and provide parents with the necessary knowledge and resources to launch successful companies, Mr. Kissiedu-Addi said that the initiative will give communities the chance to become self-resilient.

Assessment

In order to determine the literacy levels of 345 primary students at Parkoso RC Basic School, Mr. Kissiedu-Addi said that the group had undertaken a pre-assessment ex

According to Edward Bransah, Deputy Director of Education of the Ghana Education Service in the Asokore Mampong Municipality, education cannot flourish in a nation where the welfare of the child is not prioritised.
